Welcome to PatientInform

patientINFORM is a program that brings together the publishers of the world’s leading medical journals and the world’s most trusted health organizations to provide patients and their caregivers with access to some of the most up-to-date, reliable and important research available about the diagnosis and treatment of specific diseases.

Health information on the Web can help you better understand a diagnosis, treatment or prescription, and prepare for surgery or a doctor’s appointment. However, not all information is created equal.  Ideally, in addition to information from your doctor, you’ll rely both on general information about a health condition from a trusted health association and on research articles from publishers to learn about new discoveries and treatment advances.

Publishers who participate in patientINFORM help you gain access to research in two ways:

  1. By allowing participating health organizations that create research summaries, news reports or other online analyses to place special links on their sites to the associated research articles in participating journals. These links from the health organizations’ web sites provide users with access to the full journal articles free, without subscriptions.
  2. By providing patients and their caregivers with free access to relevant journal articles through their own web sites.

The purpose of this site, patientINFORM.org, is to help you:

  1. Use the web sites of participating health organizations to find information about recent research along with access to the original journal articles.
  2. Use the web sites of participating publishers to find and access research articles that are relevant to you.

PatientINFORM is made possible by the Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association of American Publishers (AAP/PSP) and the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM).
